About Us

Definitions Ltd is a family run custom design and installation company based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. It is run by brothers John and Stephen, both of whom take an active role in all of the company's projects.

Established more than 5 decades ago, Definitions, a successful consumer electronics retailer until 2004, made the decision to focus all of our efforts on our growing custom installation business. We relocated to a dedicated smart home facility, which gave us the ability to better demonstrate our state of the art home cinema and home automation systems, and introduce prospective clients to the concept of audiovisual interior design.

As a family run company, Definitions believe in providing the ultimate in personal service, together with the highest level of professionalism. Five times finalists in the CEDIA European awards, and a Crestron Awards finalist in 2008, we are held in high regard within the custom installation community.

During our many years in consumer electronics, we have forged strong relationships with our suppliers and clients alike. We take our industry very seriously and have a proactive approach to its promotion. We attained full membership of standards body, CEDIA in 2002, acquiring professional qualifications in both their designer and installer training programs.  In 2005, Definitions provided training to RIBA architects at a seminar in Leeds.

We have attained manufacturer certification from M&K, the inventors of satellite and subwoofer speaker systems, Barco and Runco, the pioneers of home cinema projection, Mode Evolution, the lighting company that powers the O2 Arena and Pioneer, the leading innovator of home cinema products. In addition, we have also been partnered with Panasonic for more than 35 years.

Education is paramount at Definitions, with every member of our team attending the regular training courses offered by both manufacturers, and CEDIA, the industry standards body.
